Projected Opening Dates For Park City Ski Resorts

Mark your calendars! Ski season will be here before we know it. Last week, here in Park City, we saw the first days of “snow making” as the snow machines were blowing at Park City and easily seen off of I-80 at Gorgoza Tubing Park.

In years past, Canyons and Park City Mountain Resort would usually both open Thanksgiving weekend and Deer Valley would lag a week or two behind. Even though Canyons and Park City are combined you might expect we would have two opening dates at our Park City resorts. But you would be wrong as Park City has two opening dates – one for the Park City base area and one for Canyons Village.

Park City is anticipating their opening day to be Saturday, November 21 at the Park City base, and Canyons Village is expected to open a week later on November 27 (Friday, the day after Thanksgiving).

Deer Valley has posted their opening day as Saturday, December 5.

Park City has also announced that all of $50 million in mountain improvement projects will be ready for Christmas week (weather conditions permitting). These improvements include the new Quicksilver Gondola, connecting Park City and Canyons, creating America’s largest ski resort with 7,300 skiable acres.  Other improvements expected to open include the brand new Miners Camp restaurant and renovations and expansions to Summit House and Red Pine restaurants. Snowmaking was beefed up on Iron Mountain and the Chicane trail was widened at Canyons. Lift improvements include, Motherlode, the detachable high-speed 4-pack and the upgraded high-speed King-Con 6-pack.

Sharpen your skis, and get your equipment waxed. Opening day will be here soon!
