Places to explore within an hour of Park City

When you’re ready to explore the sites just beyond Park City, all you need to do is head just a few miles east towards Heber Valley. It’s basically a stone’s throw away and you can find plenty of adventure. One of the most popular attractions is the Historic Heber Valley Railroad, which travels along a 16 mile track through gorgeous Provo Canyon. Hop aboard for a peaceful, scenic train ride checking out the wildlife, or hitch a ride on one of the specialty trains like the Freedom Train, the Princess Train or the Murder Mystery Train. Heber Valley is also home to Wasatch Mountain State Park, which served as host to the 2002 Olympic Winter Games. It’s not just a winter wonderland though, it offers year-round activities such as horseback riding, mountain biking and hiking trails, golfing and camping.

Also nestled in the Heber Valley are the Jordanelle and Deer Creek State Parks. Desert summers can get pretty hot and these water spots are the perfect place to cool off. Spend the day fishing for trout, bass or perch or set sail on a speedboat and try out the water skiing action at either of these reservoirs.  At Deer Creek you can also cruise down the new zipline or take a kiteboarding lesson. All while soaking in the incredible view of Mt. Timpanogos.
