Choosing a Park City Agent
With Utah’s economy being one of the strongest in the nation, we’re seeing a great impact on our local market. As total dollar volume is up from a year ago, inventory is beginning to catch up and home sales are flourishing. According to the Park City Board of Realtors, home sales are up nine percent compared to the same two quarters last year.
So if that’s convinced you that now’s the time to make the move, how do you know where to start? First things first, find the right real estate agent for you. I asked our own Patrick Howell what advice he has for someone looking for a real estate agent. Here are his top three tips:
1-Find an agent with the right credentials. Are you buying or selling? Different agents have different specialties and they sell in different markets, so you’ll want to choose one that is best suited for you.
2-Look up the agent’s license. Each state has a department or board that licenses and reprimands real estate agents. In Utah, it’s the Utah Department of Commerce, Division of Real Estate. You can easily go online to check an agent’s status.
3-Ask for references. Get a list of past clients (with contact information) and do your homework. Check to see if the recent sales are similar to your situation and then ask the clients for the pros and cons on working with that particular agent.
