Mountain Home’s Park City Restaurant Picks
Park City has emerged in recent years as a true foodie town with an informed and adventurous group of culinarians leading the way. Here are some favorite local hotspots to hit up in and around town.
Best Italian
Cortona is a tiny restaurant tucked into a mall on the outskirts of Kimball Junction near the liquor store. Blink and you’ll miss it. But don’t let the small size (it probably seats 40 people at full capacity) fool you. They make their own pasta daily and have a killer homemade gelato menu to satisfy any after-dinner sweet cravings. Open for dinner only. cortonaparkcity.com
Best Newcomer
Tupelo burst onto the scene right on Main Street in fall 2015 run by husband-wife duo Chef Matthew Harris and Maggie Alvarez. Chef Harris has fine dining pedigree — he helped open the first J&G in Atlanta and then took the helm to open the J&G at the St. Regis Deer Valley. Tupelo’s diverse cuisine inspiration from the local mountain fare with a distinctly southern twist. tupeloparkcity.com
Best Small Plates
Handle on the corner of Swede Alley and Heber St owns the category of coolest joint in town. Small plates of seasonal ingredients in unexpected and delightful presentations — Buffalo style cauliflower?? — are perfect for sharing with company. Chef Briar Handly isn’t afraid to push the envelope and innovate on the plate in ways that allow singular ingredients to shine. This is unfussy, tasty fare with flair in a decidedly hipster setting. handleparkcity.com
Best Breakfast
No Worries Cafe is so local it’s tucked off the highway at the entrance to Summit Park neighborhood and there is often a line out the door. Brunch fare includes Mexican greasy spoon favorites like huevos rancheros and chilaquiles and they up the ante with jalapeno maple bacon that’s so mouthwatering it’s like candy. noworriescafeandgrill.com
Best Live Music
The Spur is tucked off Main Street in an alley yet is packed to the rafters on the weekends with locals looking to kick up their heels to the rock, blue grass, and cover jams played by live bands. The wrap around bar allows for maximum socializing and the dance floor always fills up as the night progresses. thespurbarandgrill.com
Best People Watching
No Name Saloon is a staple on Main Street and it’s no wonder. This former cowboy bar is on everyone’s list of places to drink in Park City. It’s got two rowdy floors and a rooftop terrace that is open rain, snow or shine. Great burgers and pub grub should you need some calories to keep you going. nonamesaloon.net
Best Menu
Blind Dog in the Prospector neighborhood is a real steal with an enormous menu of everything from sushi to steak. The restaurant is large and accommodating, and during the summer there are often locals specials midweek touting two-for-one appetizers or happy hour. blinddogpc.com
Best Locals Spot
Silver Star Cafe near the Silver Star lift at Park City Mountain is the locals’ best kept secret. Live music in the evening on the weekends entertain clients and homegrown, reasonably priced fare keep us all coming back for more. This spot is also the place to be for brunch on the weekends as it boasts a wide open terrace that sits in the sun for the majority of the day. thesilverstarcafe.com
Best Date Night
This is a tie for top spot as the J&G Grill at St. Regis is a surefire win on all accounts when it comes to atmosphere, service and consistently amazing food. jggrilldeercrest.com
But Riverhorse on Main Street never disappoints with a high level of attentive service and spot on regional mountain cuisine that runs that gamut from local Utah trout to heartier elk in the colder months. riverhorseparkcity.com
