Tupelo Set For November Opening
There is a new restaurant in town, “Tupelo” which is being opened by a husband and wife team, Matt Harris and Maggie Alvarez. Tupelo will be located on Main Street in the same place most recently occupied by the old Silver restaurant at 508 Main Street. Tupelo is expected to open in November.
Chef Matt’s approach to food is farm-to-table and slow cooked and he plans on using plenty of local ingredients in his dishes. Chef Matt has appeared as a celebrity chef on CBS’s Fresh From the Kitchen and has also been featured in Food and Wine, Esquire, Ski Magazine and other publications.
Chef Matt most recently opened the J & G Grille at the St. Regis, by Jean-Georges Vongerichten. This is the second Jean-Georges restaurant he opened, the first being in Atlanta.
Matt began his culinary career at some of the most renowned dining establishments in Atlanta such as being with the Buckhead Life Restaurant Group where he eventually became the Head Executive Chef of the Buckhead Diner. He also trained at Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s New York establishments.
Tupelo will feature regional dishes from places Chef Matt has lived including New England, the Deep South, and also Utah. Tupelo will also have a full liquor license.
