That is a wrap on the 2014/2015 ski season!  We did have one last good storm this past week to wind down Park City Mountain Resort’s season.  Although things slow down around town until the summer months we still do have some fun events to attend this week.  See below for details:

April 22nd & 23rd:  Wild & Scenic Film Festival by Summit Land Conservancy

SYRCL’s Wild & Scenic Film Festival is a call to action! The films illustrate not only the challenges facing our planet but the work communities are doing to protect the environment and the places we love. The stories give us a sense of place and what it means to be responsible stewards of the earth. Summit Land Conservancy has selected environmental, scenic, scientific and adventure films, of a variety of lengths, that will inspire, educate and challenge you and, quite possibly, change your world. Our top sponsor is the Park City Medical Center, and we are grateful to them for making this event possible. Arrive early to sign up to win fabulous door prizes; doors open at 6:00 p.m. Tickets available online or at the door: $10 in advance online and $15 the day of the event, at the door only. Proceeds to benefit the Summit Land Conservancy.

April 22nd-26th:  Utah Wilderness 50 Photographic Exhibition

The Swaner Preserve and EcoCenter is pleased to announce a special exhibition called Utah Wilderness 50. This exhibit features 50 photographs that were selected through a juried process from more than 1,400 entries. All photos represent Utah public lands and reflect the spirit of the Wilderness Act of 1964. Additional activities for youth and adults: Utah Wilderness 50 Children’s Photographic Experience The film “The Wilderness Act: 50th Anniversary” showing in our Theater Room.

April 24th-26th:  Park City Film Series – Wild Tales

This black comedy, a huge hit at the Toronto Film Festival and Best Foreign Film Academy Award nominee, contains six short stories that throw characters into outrageous, funny, and unbelievable circumstances. These exhilarating and hugely entertaining stories take their characters to extremes as they are propelled into startling and hysterical situations.

April 24th-26th:  Park City Follies

Our annual Romp-and-Stomp on all thing Park City: people, politics, events, and developments. A playful poke of the stick at the soft underbelly of our unique community.

April 25th:  Park City Institute presents Alonzo King LINES Ballet

“The most sophisticated modernism in classical dance,” (Los Angeles Times), Alonzo King LINES Ballet performs a bold and poetic mixed repertory evening on Apr. 25, 2015. The show’s centerpiece is a new collaborative work inspired by the animal soundscapes of bio-acoustician Dr. Bernie Krause – sonic recordings that serve as critical barometers of global environmental health. Alonzo King, “one of the few bona fide visionaries in the ballet world today,” (San Francisco Chronicle) creates technically exquisite ballet pieces that challenge the boundaries of the point-shoe clad set. A trilogy of his iconic pieces round out the performance.

Enjoy your week!
